چکیده

New statistical procedures to evaluate the Models-3/Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) using observed data are introduced. Certain space–time correlations are used to assess dynamic aspects of CMAQ and to compare the space–time structure of CMAQ to that of observations. Our analyses show that, overall, CMAQ matches the space– time correlation structure of observed sulfate concentrations well. Analyses on the space–time correlation of the difference of observations and CMAQ output show that CMAQ partially captures time lagged spatial variation of sulfate concentrations. Separable covariance functions are shown to provide a poor description of the observations. r 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A Bayesian statistical approach for the evaluation of CMAQ

Bayesian statistical methods are used to evaluate Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model simulations of sulfate aerosol over a section of the eastern US for 4-week periods in summer and winter 2001. The observed data come from two U.S. Environmental Protection Agency data collection networks. The statistical methods used here address two problems that arise in model evaluation: the spars...

A comparison of CMAQ-based aerosol properties with IMPROVE, MODIS, and AERONET data

[1] Evaluation of concentrations predicted by air quality models is needed to ensure that model results are compatible with observations. In this study aerosol properties derived from the Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model-simulated aerosol mass concentrations are compared with routine data from NASA satellite-borne Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor aboard ...

Evaluation of Model Simulated Atmospheric Constituents with Observations in the Factor Projected Space: CMAQ Simulations of SEARCH Measurements

Two-year CMAQ simulations of gases and aerosols over the southeast are evaluated using SEARCH observations for 2000 and 2001, both by direct comparison to observations and by projecting both datasets to the factor space using the Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF) model. Model performance for secondary species (sulfate, ozone) is generally better than for primary species (EC, CO). Nitrate conc...

Comparison of Two Supplementary Zinc Doses on Lipid Peroxidation in Diabetic Patients

OBJECTIVE: The present study was performed to compare the antioxidant effect of two different doses of zinc on lipid oxidation in type 2 diabetic patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This double-blind, randomized controlled trial was conducted on 60 type 2 diabetic patients in Yazd Diabetes Research Center in 2008. The subjects were randomly allocated to receive Zinc sulfate (Iran, Alhavi) either ...
